Linda Albert, Local 201

It is with compassion and responsibility to my fellow SUN members that I am running for the Saskatoon Network representative.
Upon hearing stories from peers about their working conditions, and unfair treatment; I feel that I can act as a liaison and mentor, guiding them for help with their issues.
I am committed to following the Collective Bargaining Agreement and ensuring that management aligns with it.
My broad experience in several areas of Public Health has given me an understanding of some of the issues that are being experienced. I have worked in several areas of community health, including Healthy and Home, Public Health, and Healthy Mother Healthy Baby.
As a new nurse, I had no idea about the protection that SUN offered it’s members.
It was by experiencing difficult work situations, sharing knowledge from other nurses, and attending SUN meetings and conferences that I have learned of the benefits and protection that SUN offers.
I have initiated several grievances and have seen positive outcomes. It is with tenacity and determination that I have been able to see the grievances to resolution.
Nursing is experiencing many challenges at present and needs to plan for the future to protect our professional status, and the rights and benefits and wages that we have fought hard to achieve.
I appreciate your support; and will work hard to address your work issues. I am approachable and want to hear your concerns.
Please consider voting for me.
Thank you.
David Deppeler, Local 201

Since beginning my nursing career in November 1996, I have dedicated myself to advancing mental health care across a variety of settings, including nine years in inpatient psychiatry, six years as a nurse therapist in the OCD and Social Anxiety Program, two years in the Concurrent Disorders Program, four years as a general Community Mental Health Nurse, and eight years with the Early Psychosis Intervention Program. My journey has been shaped by a commitment to patient-centred care, collaboration, and advocacy for both clients, their families, and my colleagues.
My union involvement began in 2011 as Treasurer for SUN Local 258, followed by one year as Vice-President, and one year as Acting President. In 2018, I stepped into the role of President and served through 2025. In 2025, several community-based locals were amalgamated into a single larger local. I accepted the role of President of SUN Local 201 and have the privilege of representing nurses from Home Care, Community Mental Health, Public Health, and nine long-term care homes throughout Saskatoon. In 2024 I was honoured to be recognized with the SUN Leadership Award.
Throughout my career, I have never shied away from difficult conversations or hard work. I embrace change and actively seek opportunities for growth and learning. Years of experience and service have shaped me into a leader who advocates effectively and builds strong, collaborative teams. I am committed to representing Saskatoon as your network representative on the SUN Board of Directors, ensuring that our voices are heard and our

Melissa McGillivray, Local 101

I am delighted to share with you that I am putting my name forward as candidate for the Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative on the SUN Board of Directors.
While I’m currently working as a psychiatric liaison nurse in Emergency, I have had the privilege of working at all three hospitals in Saskatoon, in Long Term Care and as a Nurse Practice Officer with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses.
My union experience is extensive. I am currently the Treasurer, and on the NAC Committee at my local. I am the Registrar for the Saskatoon and District Labour Council. I have previously held positions as Local President, on the NAC and OH&S Committees, and as Local Secretary and PR Chair.
I am seeking election because we need strong, confident advocates who stand up for what is right. I am seeking election because I believe in educating and empowering our membership. I am seeking election because we need leaders with the knowledge, skills and experience to ensure they understand the issues and can represent all their peers. Above all else - I am running because I believe in transparency and accountability.
My goal is to be accessible and engage with as many folks as I can in the coming weeks. I would love to hear from you as to what your concerns and priorities are – as Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”.
Take care,
Melissa McGillivray, RN
Lori Powell, Local 75

I, Lori Powell, am seeking your support to be re-elected as your Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative. I currently hold a full-time position as President of Local 75, and I have proudly been your Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative for over seven years. My passion for unionism stretches back nearly twenty years, with ten of those in a variety of Local executive positions. My commitment and passion for SUN members is evident in all I do. I am proud to have the privilege of advocating, supporting, and working along side many amazing SUN members. Supporting my peers is what I am meant to do and I truly love it!
Attending local and annual meetings at City Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital and Royal University Hospital (JPCH/DUBE), hosting member engagements, and providing support through calls and emails remains a priority. I also meet monthly with our local presidents. I ensure our voice is present at each board meeting and with all decision making. Through consistent advocacy, I have had successes with improved parking and workplace safety. I am committed to continuing to push for further improvements for members.
I am a proud Registered Nurse, a strong vocal advocate, and a leader for positive change. I will continue putting in the necessary time and required dedication to ensure I succeed as your trusted voice. The Network Lead – South shall be elected by the members employed in the SE, SW, Regina Networks and Regina Base Hospitals.
Maureen Arseneau, Local 68

My name is Maureen Arseneau and I am seeking your support for the position of South Network Lead. I currently work full-time in Moose Jaw at the Wigmore Regional Hospital in the recovery room.
I graduated from nursing in 1987. In the early 90's, following health care reform and layoffs, I became involved at the Local level. I was Local Treasurer in 1995 and have been the Local President/ SDC representative since 2004.
My Provincial experience includes two terms on the Program Committee, a term on the Provincial Negotiations Committee as a regional hospital representative then I served as the Region 4 rep/Southwest rep from 2013 - 2024. Supporting members and assisting Local leadership to learn about the SUN website, finding important local executive resources, and creating functional Local Executives were some of the many things I did in my role as a Board rep. During my multiple terms on the Board of Directors, I was involved in a lot of discussions and presentations to the general membership on the Local structure and meeting member needs as well as input into the creation of the new Network Lead positions. I am currently a member of the Finance Committee.
I feel like my experience, both as a Local President and a previous member of the SUN Board of Directors would help me be effective in the position of South Network Lead.
Thank you in advance for your support!
Maureen
