Funding Information

Provincial funding is available for the Local President or their designate; one funded spot is available per local.

According to Membership Policy 065-M-2023, attendees are eligible for the following funding provided by SUN Provincial.

Funding shall be applied to each day in attendance of the event and limited to:

SALARY

  • For a scheduled shift (paid provincial union leave), SUN Provincial will reimburse your Employer for one shift per day of the event you are attending.
  • If attending on a day off, SUN Provincial will pay you directly for 8 hours per day of attendance.

TRAVEL

  • Roundtrip kilometrage shall be paid to members (drivers only) who must travel in excess of 50 kms (one-way) at a rate determined annually by the Board of Directors in the budget.
  • Kilometrage shall be defined as the distance between (direct route) the member’s hometown/city and the city/town hosting the event. 
  • Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

TRAVEL TIME - Restrictions Apply

  • Members who are scheduled to work the day before the event, and have greater than 3 hours of travel time, or have 200 kilometres or greater to travel, shall be eligible to claim for travel time on December 8th only.
    • Hours of work and travel time shall not exceed 12 hours. 
  • To confirm eligibility and parameters concerning travel time, members should speak with the First Vice-President in advance of the event

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

  • Members are required to book and pay for their own hotel accommodations.
  • Funding for accommodations is dependent upon travel distance of greater than fifty (50) kilometres one-way. 
  • Funding for accommodations shall be based on two members sharing a room on the night before the event.
    • NOTE: Room share partners are encouraged to pay for their individual portion of the hotel room upon checkout.
  • Members choosing to stay in a single-occupancy room shall be responsible for one-half (½) of the cost of the room.
  • Reimbursement shall be based on half the costs of standard accommodations, as determined in the budget.

    • ​​A room block has been set up at the Delta Hotels Saskatoon Downtown (405 20th Street East, Saskatoon) for attendees.
    • Room rate: $204.00 plus taxes and fees

MEALS

  • Meal per diems shall be provided for the day of the event.
  • Lunch will be provided during this event.

  • If required, shall be reimbursed for reasonable parking expenses; receipts are required.
